The Free Web Is Expensive

Hosting data visualization tools, high-score leaderboards for web games, and massive interactive portfolios incurs real server costs. Historically, developers relied entirely on goodwill donations via platforms like Patreon or 'Buy Me a Coffee'. However, stabilizing server revenue often requires advertising.

Ethical Ad Placement

When integrating Google AdSense into this portfolio, the primary constraint was user experience. Ads must not break the Apple HIG-inspired aesthetic, nor can they be intrusive (e.g., full-page interstitials or auto-playing video trackers).

We opted for highly contextual, non-personalized ad units placed strictly at the conclusion of long-form reading content. By avoiding 'above the fold' monetization, we prioritize the user's initial impression and interaction with the core tools (like the ISO Checklist or the Godot Tetris game) without distraction.

Privacy and Transparency

Modern regulatory environments (GDPR, CCPA) demand aggressive transparency regarding third-party trackers. Implementing AdSense securely meant stripping away personalized ad targeting to prevent Google from building shadow profiles of our visitors. Our Privacy Policy explicitly breaks down exactly what telemetry is necessary for site stability and what is optionally used for basic traffic analytics.
